Playing on the Cottage Porch

Posted October 4th, 2011 by Annabellea and filed in Uncategorized

We finished up the majority of the porch painting of the Shabby Coast Cottage yesterday… and I just couldn’t wait to get everything out there and shoot a few photos! It really is amazing what paint can do…. and I love the light gray on the floor!

We are almost ready to open! We have some landscaping to do and a few other minor things…. but the majority of the hard work it done!!

Shabby Coast Cottage Painted Floor

Posted September 28th, 2011 by Annabellea and filed in A Day in the Studio, At Home, Before and After, DIY, Furniture, Shabby Coast Cottage, Uncategorized

We are gearing up to open the Shabby Coast Cottage next month!

This week I have been working on painting the side room…

first it needed a fresh coat of white paint on the ceiling, walls and floor!

All the wood in the cottage is Heart Pine and is almost 100 years old!

Then I knew that I wanted to do something fun and different on the floors…

after searching the web for inspiration, I came across a fabulous blog - Jones Design Company and she has a tutorial on painting a design on a wall.  I loved it and thought that it would look great on the floor!

So I enlarged the template that she provides to  16 inches and cut it out of cardboard.

and then i spent the next 2 days on the floor!

I primed the floor lightly so that the grain would still show through and used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Gray for the design…

I seriously would have lost my mind with painting a smaller design on walls! Kudos to anyone that can do that!

After I got it painted, I sanded lightly in some spots and then waxed with a floor wax!

I am hoping that it will age naturally and distress beautifully!

and now a little glimpse into the disaster that this room was just a few months ago…

It was like a Horders Episode…. very scarrrryyyyy…….

And now, The room all Painted and Happy!!

We can’t wait to get the other rooms done and all the goodies loaded in!

Cottage Love

Posted August 16th, 2011 by Annabellea and filed in Uncategorized

I love the original Glass Door Knob on the front door of our Cottage…

And look at these Heart Pine Walls… I love the gaps between the boards…

The molding around the old sash windows is fabulous!

The cottage was built in 1937 and is all heart pine walls , ceilings and floors!

The painting will begin next week… Fresh Bright White on everything but the floors…

I love the worn roughness of the floors and will prob leave them as is…. every little scrape and nick adds to it!

Little by little the little Shabby Coast Cottage is coming along! Please be sure and join our Cottage Facebook page and follow our progress!

White and Aqua Dresser is Finished

Posted August 14th, 2011 by Annabellea and filed in A Day in the Studio, At Home, Furniture, Shabby Coast Cottage, Uncategorized

One Saturday while thrifting with one of my best friends -who I call Crabb, because that is her last name and for 20 years that is all i have ever called her… I actually forget she has a first name! Anyway, I came across an old beat up dresser that they wanted 45 bucks for. … Well, Crabb being the professional thrifter and retired Auctioneer… talked them down to $25 using her southern charm! I brought it home and painted her up!

I also painted the Beach sign on an old fence part… it will go in our Shabby Coast Cottage Shop when we open!

I love this little Vintage Florida Mermaid!

The Drawer Hardware turned out fabulous painted white!

This piece will be available at Shabby Coast Cottage when we open!

Please join our new Facebook Page for the Cottage!
